Kremnica, May 20, 2019. The “Tree of Peace” project, which was created on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I in 2018, has become an international symbol of peace and understanding between nations. For this reason, it was necessary to redesign the plaque design. It does not contain the year 1918 and besides the official logo of the project it bears the main motto of the project: “Let´s make love the lifeblood of this world”. For fans we are also preparing small medals that will be available over time and will be also used to fund the project itself. The author of the medal is Marek Sobola and the final creation was processed in the studio of the Kremnica Mint, who make the medal. The medals will be fixate on a special stainless steel pillar with a text of the particular planting of the tree and the participants of the event. The steel pillar was designed by MgA. Michal Janiga. The Kremnica Mint is a state-owned mint situated in Kremnica, Slovakia. Kremnica Mint was established in 1328 when Kremnica was promoted to a free royal town by the Hungarian King Charles Robert of Anjou; the mint issued several kinds of coins early on, of which the most successful was its ducat. Kremnica ducats were well-known because of their good quality and were considered the hardest currency in Central Europe. Available historical records report that 21.5 million ducats were minted at the Kremnica Mint throughout its history. The aggregate value of this amount, measured at today’s prices of gold, would be three billion US dollars (exclusive of the numismatic value).
