Michael, Prince of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach is another peace award laureate

Eisenach, Wartburg Castle, May 12, 2022. At a Commission meeting Servare et Manere at the end of last year, our NGO decided to award His Royal Highness Michael, Prince of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. Prince is one of the leading personalities who are dedicated to the presentation and preservation of historical values and cultural heritage for future generations and are also bearers of traditions. Prince Michael is the current Head of the Grand Ducal House of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach, as well as the most senior agnate of the entire House of Wettin. It is a dynasty of German counts, dukes, prince-electors and kings that once ruled territories in the present-day German states of Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. The dynasty is one of the oldest in Europe, and its origins can be traced back to the town of Wettin, Saxony-Anhalt.

At the end of last year, Prince celebrated a significant life anniversary and therefore, on the occasion of his 75th birthday, Servare et Manere awarded His Royal Highness the Memorial Medal of Tree of Peace in a Special class with rubies, one of the highest awards of the association. The Medal was handed over on the grounds of Wartburg Castle, which played an important role in the history of Europe and was therefore inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999.
