Prague, November 15, 2022. The Secretary-General of Servare et Manere, Marek Sobola, today handed over to His Eminence Dominik Cardinal Duka O.P. the Memorial Medal of Tree of Peace (Slovak: Pamätná medaila Stromu pokoja) a high honour of the association of the same name. The medal was awarded to the Cardinal for noteworthy contributions to interreligious dialogue at the international level, as well as for the promotion of Christian values. The Archbishop Emeritus of Prague and Primate Emeritus of Czechia could not participate in the Žilina event called the Week of Christian Culture, during which other laureates were awarded, including the Bishop of Žilina Tomáš Galis, PMSP, the Mayor of Žilina Peter Fiabáne PMSP, and the Ambassador Ľubomír Rehák, PPSP, PMSP, due to his busy schedule and other commitments. The award was presented in Prague in the presence of Štefan Žídek PMSP, Chancellor of the Diocesan Curia of Žilina.
The celebration of the 4th anniversary of the international initiative Tree of Peace, which is implemented by the non-governmental organization Servare et Manere in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, was one of the points of the program of the 13th year of the Week of Christian Culture. The event took place on September 28, 2022. The Press office of the Slovak Bishops’ Conference as well as Cardinal Duka, informed about the awarding of the award.
