Bratislava, December 14, 2022. Marek Sobola took part in the handing over of the Blaže Koneski International Prize (МЕЃУНАРОДНО ПРИЗНАНИЕ НА БЛАЖ КОНЕСКИ) to prof. PhDr. Pavol Žigo, CSc. The extraordinary recognition of the Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts was presented to the laureate by Mr. Henrik Markuš, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic in North Macedonia on the grounds of the Ľudovít Štúr Institute of Linguistics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. The Macedonian Academy of Sciences and Arts granted this award to prof. Žigo for his remarkable contribution to the development of science, culture and art of North Macedonia. The award is named after Blaže Koneski, a Macedonian poet and writer who was also a literary translator and linguistic scholar. He was the author of the basic works of the Macedonian language and defined its grammar, vocabulary and history.
