Zvolen, October 25, 2022. Secretary-General of Servare et Manere today honored Romanian soldiers at the Central Military Cemetery of the Romanian Royal Army in Zvolen by laying a wreath. The event was celebrated on the occasion of the Day of the Romanian Armed Forces. A memorial service of the fallen Romanian soldiers began this afternoon and included a short service, which was served by a military chaplain for the fallen soldiers. The Day of the Romanian Armed Forces is also the birth anniversary of the last Romanian King. The Secretary-General in honour of His Majesty Michael I of Romania also laid a wreath and lit a candle at the Memorial pillar of the Tree of Peace, which was planted in 2021 in the occasion of the Centenary of the birth of King Michael I of Romania.

At the end of WWII Approximately 240 000 to 260 000 Romanians took part in the liberation of Slovakia, consisting of personnel from 16 divisions, an air corps, a brigade of the railway army, a tank regiment, as well as other units. Particularly significant was their participation in the Bratislava-Brno operation (March 25 to May 5, 1945), in which, in addition to 266 000 Soviet soldiers, 86 000 Romanian soldiers also participated. 10 435 Romanian army soldiers are buried in Slovakia. Of these, 10 384 are buried in the Central Military Cemetery of the Romanian Royal Army in Zvolen, 36 soldiers found their final resting place in the cemetery in Stará Turá and 15 in Trenčianska Teplá.

By laying wreaths, Dr. Marek Sobola, Secretary-General of Servare et Manere, honoured the memory of the last Romanian King Michael I, the Commander-in-chief of the Romanian Royal Army and also the memory of Romanian heroes who put their lives for the liberation of Slovakia. King Michael I played a key role in Romania’s transition to the Allies after 1944 and spent decades in exile after forced abdication.

Marek Sobola, a onorat astăzi soldații români la Cimitirul Militar Central al Armatei Regale Române prin depunerea unei coroane de flori, cu ocazia Zilei Armatei Române. Ziua Armatei Române este și aniversarea nașterii ultimului Rege al României. De asemenea, în onoarea Majestății Sale Mihai I al României, a depus o coroană de flori și a aprins o lumânare la stâlpul Memorial al Arborelui Păcii, care a fost plantat în 2021 cu ocazia Centenarului nașterii Regelui Mihai I al României. La sfârșitul celui de-al Doilea Război Mondial, la eliberarea Slovaciei au luat parte aproximativ 240 000 – 260 000 de soldați români. Deosebit de semnificativă a fost participarea lor la operațiunea Bratislava-Brno (25 martie – 5 mai 1945), la care, pe lângă 266 000 de soldați sovietici, au participat și 86 000 de soldați români. 10 435 de soldați ai armatei române sunt înmormântați în Slovacia. Dintre aceștia, 10 384 sunt înmormântați în Cimitirul Militar Central al Armatei Regale Române din Zvolen, 36 de soldați și-au găsit locul de odihnă în cimitirul din Stará Turá și 15 la cel din Trenčianska Teplá. Prin depunerea de coroane, dr.
