Žilina, November 9, 2018. Today, two days before the celebrations of the Centenary of the end of the First World War, a memorable Tree of Peace was planted in Žilina. It will grow in a very symbolic place – in the Military Cemetery on Bôrik, the place where soldiers who have been killed in the struggle for peace are buried. The tree was ceremonially planted by Patrik Groma, deputy of Mayor of Žilina, together with Marek Sobola, the project’s author. It is already the fifth tree to symbolize the hardships of war conflict. The Trees of Peace are a kind of living memorial to all soldiers who have never returned to their homes and lie in unknown places.
