Funafuti, October 8, 2020. The civic association Servare et Manere is pleased to inform that His Excellency Sir Iakoba Taeia Italeli CMT, GCMG the former Governor-General of Tuvalu, has become a new Friend of Peace of International Tree of Peace project.

The Friend of Peace is an honest and formal function related to the international project Tree of Peace. The holders of this title and award express support for this project in the country of their birth. Good ideas and projects need the support of strong friends. Our association strives to reach out to influential personalities from across the spectrum of society on a global scale. We place great emphasis on the Oceania region which is very vulnerable from an environmental and ecological point of view.

Negotiations with members of the government and other relevant institutions regarding the implementation of the project in Tuvalu are currently underway. This international project is scheduled to take place in Tuvalu at the end of 2021 and beginning of 2022. A place in the Queen Elizabeth Park on the capital island of Funafuti is one of suitable alternatives for planting the Tree of Peace.
