Vrana Palace, Sofia, October 11, 2023. The Secretary-General and founder of the Slovak NGO Servare et Manere today handed over the Servare et Manere highest award to His Majesty Tsar Simeon II of the Bulgarians. By awarding the Tree of Peace Memorial Plaque, Servare et Manere expresses its highest gratitude to eminent personalities, governmental and non-governmental organizations who have contributed immensely to the spread of ideas of understanding, friendship and unity among nations. During the mutual cordial meeting, both actors touched on several cultural and social topics, as well as the connection between Slovakia and Bulgaria. Both countries are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year.
Marek Sobola also brought a tree (Fagus sylvatica) to His Majesty as a gift, which grew in Slovakia on the property of the Sobola’s family in the village of Lalinok, which is today a local part of Divinka village near Žilina. It is a great symbolism not only of the union of the Bulgarian Royal Family and Slovakia, but this tree also symbolizes Ondrej Sobola, on whose true tragic story Marek Sobola founded the international initiative Tree of Peace.
