Rep. n° 01/2023
Kapolei, Hawai‘i, January 11, 2023. Building peace is the responsibility of each of us, and it should begin in our homes and communities. The discussion about climate change, global food security and the role of small farmers is very important, especially in vulnerable regions of the world. One of the fundamental pillars of peace is cooperation with local communities and indigenous peoples, which is also carried out by the Pacific Island Farmers Organisation Network. In cooperation with this organization, one of the Trees of Peace was planted in Fiji in 2022. Servare et Manere was greatly assisted in this project by Mr. Kyle Stice, Executive Director of the above organization, who was awarded the Memorial Medal of Tree of Peace for his outstanding service. Cooperation between Servare et Manere and the Pacific Island Farmers’ Organisation Network will continue. Already at the beginning of 2023, other possibilities for bilateral cooperation were outlined in the implementation of the international Peace Tree initiative in some island countries in the South Pacific Ocean.
