Žilina, June 28, 2023. The British Embassy in Slovakia in cooperation with the Town of Žilina, opened a photo exhibition entitled “QUEEN ELIZABETH II IN SLOVAKIA”. It is a traveling exhibition that commemorates the 15th anniversary of Her Majesty’s visit to Slovakia. The exhibition was opened by the British Ambassador His Excellency Nigel Baker and the mayor of Žilina Peter Fiabáne. The event was also attended by the Servare et Manere Secretary-General. The activities of this association are closely connected not only with the Queen Elizabeth II, but also with the United Kingdom. During the years 2019 – 2023, Servare et Manere organized several interesting events:
- Planting of the Tree of Peace in Brookwood together with the Slovak President Zuzana Čaputová (12/2019)
- Planting of the very first Platinum Jubilee Tree of the Queen Elizabeth II in Central Europe. The event was held in Žilina under the auspices of the British Embassy in Bratislava and with the personal participation of the British Ambassador (11/2021)
- Tree of Peace Cycling Relay with the participation of war veterans of the British Armed Forces (09/2022)
- Planting of a rose in the ‘Queen Elizabeth’ variety in memory of the Queen Elizabeth II in Vysoká nad Kysucou village (09/2022)
- Creating of the only Official place of worship to honour the memory of the Queen Elizabeth II in Slovakia (09/2022)
- Planting of the Sister Jubilee Tree on the occasion of Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee. Tree planted by the Slovak and Czech Ambassador to the United Kingdom in Brookwood. The Queen’s Green Canopy program included this planting on the official QGC Map (03/2023)
