Rep. n° 15/2024

Meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Slovak Republic

Bratislava, December 18, 2024. The Secretary-General of Servare et Manere had a working-informative meeting with the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Japan to Slovakia, His Excellency Yasuhiro Kawakami. Marek Sobola presented to the Ambassador the activities of the Kysuce Museum supported by publications from the institution’s portfolio. An important point was the discussion on the possible implementation of the international initiative Tree of Peace in Japan, which Ambassador Kawakami is very keen on. Marek Sobola also outlined further possible cooperation between Japan and Slovakia in the form of a memorandum of cooperation between the Kysuce Museum and a local ethnographic museum in Japan, which could create interesting intersections in the scientific and research activities of both institutions.

The Ambassador also promised to participate in the planned “SLOVak – SLOVenian Dimension” exhibition, which will be hosted by the Kysuce Museum at the beginning of 2025 and will be implemented in cooperation with the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia in Bratislava. The exhibition will present cultural-historical and contemporary parallels and differences between the Slovak Republic and the Republic of Slovenia.
